Our client is a FTSE 250 company that delivers expertise and support to many sectors including ship building, marine structure fabrication, transport, energy, renewables and defence.
The job:
We are seeking an experienced Marine Engineer to develop and oversee the management of the professional engineering resource within our clients UK North Operations (based in Tyneside, but covering Aberdeen). This senior management role will cover both the maritime defence and commercial business market sectors. The post holder will have experience of marine engineering design.
Responsibilities include:
Representing the company at the highest level in relevant technical forums. Overseeing the technical integrity and quality of design processes, products and outputs of the assigned professional engineering teams in meeting customer requirements and expectations. Supporting the development of new business, managing budget plans and contributing to the tendering process. Communicating with staff, subcontractors, business partners & customers Supporting the identification & implementation of improved engineering business processes that enhance group capabilities and efficiency Providing specialist engineering advice to other company business units as necessary. Taking a lead role in the review, maintenance and upkeep of quality assurance documentation
Qualifications and experience:
Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or closely related subject Ideally hold Chartered Engineer status or working towards it Have at least 15 years engineering experience in marine engineering, with a significant proportion in a design environment Good communication and project management skills Commercial awareness
Applicants must be British or EU citizens who have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and either hold a UK security clearance or be willing to undergo clearance.
