Costing Analyst / Cost Modelling / Risk Management/Modelling ? Defence. Our client has the largest UK consultant capability in the Defence market. The Defence business is a progressive and growing part of our clients business. They plan, design and enable complex defence programmes. Our client is now looking to recruit a Business Case and Costing Analyst to work on a range of projects for MOD and other government departments involving: the development of tailored cost models to assess option trades and balance of investment studies, definition of cost data requirements and assumptions, identification of key issues, The work will probably involve extensive use of spreadsheet tools. The Responsibilities - Costing Analyst ? Defence. The successful candidate will be required to carry out modelling, analysis and programming work, definition and clarification of requirements, collation of data/information, use of spreadsheets/databases for data analysis and presentation, use of supplementary spreadsheet tools (add-ins such as @RISK) and VBA, cost modelling and analysis. The Requirements - Costing Analyst ? Defence. Candidates would be expected to demonstrate the following; - * Degree in a numerate discipline or experience in lieu of qualification. A relevant higher degree would be an advantage. * Experience in a relevant consultancy environment, including cost modelling or business case support * Experience of conducting economic appraisals to support the Combined Operational Effectiveness and Investment Appraisal (COEIA) process. * A good understanding of the principles, guidelines and methods used in the cost analysis of military equipments, systems and capabilities. * Track record of effective liaison with clients and their stakeholders. * Experience of developing cost models to analyse cost data. Able to collect, collate and interpret cost data from previous projects, supplier estimates, internal experts and published sources. * Experience undertaking statistical analysis of data. * Complete familiarity and confidence in using spreadsheets to create basic and complex cost estimating models. * Effective written and oral communication skills. * Flexible approach to work, able to work alone or as part of a team. Desirable * Familiarity with MoD financial processes, including RAB and PFI/PPP. * An appreciation of the SMART acquisition process and an understanding of the whole life costs associated with equipment procurement. * Experience of CAAS Assurance. * Experience of Risk Management/Modelling Experience of Schedule Modelling * Experience of soft OR and decision analysis * Experience of Benefits Planning and Realisation Management techniques Additional Information - * Some work outside normal office hours may be necessary. Travel to and from client sites and/or temporary secondment to client?s offices may also be required.. * Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security vetting process and offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted..
