ISTAR Consultant – Defence, C4ISTAR, Land, Ships, Submarine and Air.
ISTAR Consultant is required by a Systems Consultancy to work on an MOD/Defence contract.
The ISTAR Consultant will work on a range of projects for MOD, other government departments and the defence industry, particularly in the areas of: systems analysis, design, architecture definition, development, interoperability and through life management. The role will involve taking a leading role with clients to define requirements and assumptions and provide advice on a range of issues.
You will be required to apply consultancy principles, such as definition and clarification of requirements, collation of data/information, and use of appropriate tools for data capture, analysis and presentation.
The Requirements – ISTAR Consultant.
Qualifications: You will ideally be degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering, mathematical or scientific discipline and have some experience in leading technical projects to time, quality and cost objectives. A relevant higher degree and/or professional qualification, e.g. CEng, would be an advantage.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:- ISTAR Consultant -
Defence industry experience and domain knowledge is desirable. A demonstrable track record in the following technical disciplines is required:
Systems Engineering: -Experience of delivering across the systems engineering lifecycle
Knowledge of ISO 15288 and ISO 42010.
General Domain Experience:- Understanding of the MOD acquisition process
Project Management Experience: -Ability to manage a technical team. Ability to manage a technical team.
Consultancy Experience:-
Excellent interpersonal skills capable of engaging across a wide range of stakeholders.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including excellent presentation and report-writing skills. Strong consulting skills. A willingness to work on client site
Experience in benefits analysis. DV cleared would be very useful.
Responsibilities -
You will be responsible for: Successfully delivering consultancy assignments.
Supporting the delivery of engineering projects, working as part of a team.
Providing a responsive, customer focused service to external and internal clients.
Interfacing with external customers/suppliers on technical aspects.
Conducting technical investigations and root cause analysis.
Developing recommendations, solutions and reports.
Participating actively in requirements and design reviews.
Supporting Validation and Verification activities.
Preparing technical reports to show compliance to appropriate standards and requirements.
Mentoring of more junior staff..
Supporting the development of bids, and responses to tenders..
Supporting the development of thought leadership material..
Finding new and better ways of doing things.
The right person will need to demonstrate flexibility, breath of experience, a desire to be challenged and to contribute towards the success and growth of the business.

Must be able to obtain UK SC Clearance, candidates with current DV Clearance would be ideal.
Salary £28K-£35K – Location – Farnham, Surrey
