ISS Senior Consultant / Information Systems Service Consultant – Defence/MOD. Our client is seeking to build on our team of exceptional information systems consultants by recruiting an information systems consultant leader with a proven track record in Information Systems and Services (ISS). The challenge is to help build MOD’s Information Systems and Services through hard edge practices that deliver an enhanced service. The Role The ISS Senior Consultant will work on a range of projects for the MOD and other government departments and the defence industry, particularly in the areas of: systems analysis, design, architecture definition, development, interoperability and through life management. The role will involve taking a leading role with clients to define requirements and assumptions and provide advice on a range of Information System issues. You will be required to apply information systems and services principles, such as definition and clarification of requirements, collation of data/information, and use of appropriate tools for data capture, analysis and presentation. The Responsibilities – ISS Principal Consultant - Successfully delivering consultancy assignments.. Supporting the delivery of engineering projects, working as part of a team.. Providing a responsive, customer focused service to external and internal clients.. Interfacing with external customers/suppliers on technical aspects.. Conducting technical investigations and root cause analysis.. Developing recommendations, solutions and reports. Participating actively in requirements and design reviews. Supporting Validation and Verification activities.. Preparing technical reports to show compliance to appropriate standards and requirements.. Mentoring of more junior staff in Information Systems and Services.. Supporting the development of bids, and responses to tenders. Supporting the development of thought leadership material. The Requirements You will be degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering, mathematical or scientific discipline and have extensive experience in leading technical projects to time, quality and cost objectives. A relevant higher degree and/or professional qualification, e.g. CEng, would be an advantage. Defence industry experience and domain knowledge is essential. A demonstrable track record in the following technical disciplines is required: Systems Engineering: Experience of delivering across the systems engineering lifecycle. Experience of systems engineering process tailoring for programmes and/or projects. Knowledge of ISO 15288 and ISO 42010. Extensive knowledge and experience within the service industry, including: Understanding of service based approach to procurement; Knowledge of ITIL; Experience of transition from traditional procurement to service based procurement. Model Based Systems Engineering: Ability to apply a model driven engineering approach to address stakeholder concerns, requirements and needs. Strong and proven architecting skills, in both Enterprise Architectures and SOSA, with a clear understanding of how architectures deliver value to the enterprise at the capability, operational and technology levels. Experience of using and applying architectural frameworks (such as MODAF, Archimate, Zachman, COBIT, DODAF, NAF, with practical use of architectural methodologies such as TOGAF, Federal Enterprise Architecture or the Gartner methodology). Experience in the use of OOD concepts to develop architectural components and behaviours that are coherent and consistent. Experience of Systems Engineering modelling tools and languages (such as UML, SysML, SoaML, MoDAF, MOOD.) General Domain Experience: Previous consultancy experience associated with military communications and information systems (CIS, ICT, NEC) (This may include a relevant MSc, PhD and/or work experience). Understanding of integration and interoperability. Knowledge and experience of Service Strategy and Service Design phases of the lifecycle. Good understanding of the MOD acquisition process. Project Management Experience. And previous Consultancy experience: -Excellent interpersonal skills capable of engaging across a wide range of stakeholders. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including excellent presentation and report-writing skills. Strong consulting skills. Ability to act as a thought leader in the area and advise clients accordingly.. Knowledge of Cabinet Office initiatives. Knowledge of CIO/CTO organisation within MOD and across Government.
